When the staff at Alternative Veterinary Services first met Quiche she had been evaluated for chronic pelvic limb issues. Starting in 2015 she was having trouble jumping onto furniture and going up and down stairs, and eventually she was having trouble standing up. She developed paresis in her rear legs, but was not fully paralyzed.

Despite her impaired movement, Quiche is an incredibly sweet and undeniably happy dog. Have you ever seen someone looks so cheerful while they are having an acupuncture treatment?!

Quiche has been seeing Dr. David Lindsay for 3 years now. It is our belief that acupuncture is helping slow the progression of her paresis, and keeping her quality of life more reasonable. She is now able to stand up again for short periods of time to drink water.

In 2017 Quiche started using a small cart to help her get around. This cart helps her play outside and chase balls in the backyard. When she is indoors she loves playing with her younger sister, Effie, without the assistance of the cart. Her owner, Joseph, will also occasionally wheel her around in a stroller.

No matter what her mode of transport, Quiche is obviously having a fantastic time – that's why she is our Pet of the Month here at AVS!
